Over and Under is a selection of two evocative short stories of women facing disappointment and loss. In the title story, a shocking incident leaves Melissa feeling both vulnerable and angry. In the aftermath, she must decide how to process her disappointment and her new revelations about the character of her boyfriend. Coffee and Cigarettes takes place in Dallas, as Gwendolyn has returned to the city of her childhood in search of the answers her mother could never reveal. Both stories convey the bravery it takes to let go in the face of hurt and the ripple effects of the choices we make.

Wow. Cooper's writing is so beautifully descriptive that I could picture every moment and could empathize with both characters' pain. Though they are short stories, Cooper slowly reveals more about the characters with each paragraph. In the first story, I could see Melissa realizing her self worth moment by moment. I was cheering for her to see what I was seeing (or not seeing) in her boyfriend. The second story about Gwendolynn left me wanting another chapter. I felt like the story had so many more pages left for me to read. I hope to hear more about Gwendolynn!Product details

Over and Under edition by Kay Cooper Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews
Wonderfully crafted short stories!!! Amazing how the reader truly gets to know the characters in such a short time. Can't wait to see what Kay Cooper writes next!
Great book!
I had the PRIVILEGE of reading these stories pre-publication. First we meet Melissa, a strong young woman who finally puts herself first, reassuring us that sometimes the only thing left to do is walk away. Next we meet Gwen, who lives a lifetime of questions unanswered after losing her Mother. We are ready for more Kay Cooper.
